Caitlin and JB got a stunning sunny Southland day for their celebrations at The Hideaway 201. You couldn’t ask for better weather in March.
These two were my last wedding before the Covid-19 lockdown, and what a way to finish the season.
He’s a shearer from Ireland, and she’s a Kiwi rousie. Mr and Mrs Buchanan met in the shearing sheds of Western Australia and, by the sounds of it, they’ve been together ever since.
We even managed to spend some time in a wool shed on the wedding day, and JB changed out of his shirt and pants to shear a few sheep. What a groom!
Scroll all the way through for a gorgeous outdoor buffet dessert featuring the most drool-worthy looking pav. Delish!

And always a pleasure to work with Andrei James Photography. Can’t wait to see the video!
Mr and Mrs Buchanan opted for a first look, so we did half of their portraits before ceremony. I love getting the nerves out of the way early in the day, and seeing my couples spend most of their big day together.
I always feel a bit bad when I leave the groom standing there with no idea when his bride’s going to tap him on the shoulder!
This wedding wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to a woolshed, of course!
During the ceremony, the cake was cut. Wheels of cheese = delicious!
After the ceremony and family photos were finished, we went for a wander through The Hideaway’s beautiful gardens. Honestly could the weather have been any better?!
A rare outdoor buffet in Southland in autumn.
