Fiordland Lodge weddings might just be my new favourite thing. How refreshing to step away from Queenstown and its tourists, and into fresh, lush Fiordland.
Heather and Nicole’s big day marked the start of my wedding season. I like to kick things off in style!
There’s something quite special and cosy about wedding guests all staying onsite, especially in huge log cabins! As the day turned to evening, the beautiful view dimmed and the warmth of the lodge took over.
I think special mention must go to the six-course menu Heather and Nicole had planned. It tasted even more delicious than it read, and I was so thrilled to be included in this meal. How lucky am I?!
(You might be wondering if I’m advertising the lodge. I’m not, but it’s fabulous. You should book a weekend there ASAP.)
After an intimate ceremony, we took off into the mountains. Heather’s daughter Shantelle and her friend Chelsea flew up with us. And let me tell you, it. was. freezing.
I’m talking polar blasts and snow up to our knees in places. None of us had really dressed for the occasion, although I’d remembered to bring a big furry coat. So my feet may have frozen but I otherwise fared quite well.
Our trip up the mountain was brief. The wind was picking up and our pilot mentioned that if we stayed much longer, we might set stuck there.
Back at the lodge, we were greeted by a roaring fire, excited guests, and a glass of wine to warm us up.
Heather and Nicole, your wedding day was perfect.
These two prioritised their friends and family, and the day was all about sharing a celebration with their nearest and dearest, who had all flown in from Australia for the occasion.
It was heartwarming to be surrounded by so much love and support.
Thank you so much for choosing me to be part of your day!
