I laughed so hard during the speeches at Deedee and Jake’s winter Wanaka wedding. There were tears of laughter, honestly what a night.
The reception was so darn good. The dance floor was jam-packed and one of the most epic parties I’ve had the privilege of photographing. I wanted to stay all night!
Let’s rewind… Deedee and Jake postponed their wedding for Covid, and soon realised Deedee’s family wouldn’t be able to visit from Scotland for quite a long time. So this is wedding #1 and I’m just putting it out there, I’m available to photograph wedding #2 in a Scottish castle any time (once I can actually get into the country, ya know!)
Deedee’s family stayed up until all hours of the night, drinks in hand, to watch her get ready and then walk down the aisle. They sent pre-videoed speeches and tuned in to be part of the reception too.
These two chose a sunny lakeside spot for the ceremony, and a cosy fireside dinner to warm up afterwards. There are lots of cool moments in here, so grab a cuppa and enjoy.
Epic people, food, music, speeches, and one hell of a party!

Having a whisky with her family via video chat!
And perhaps one not-so-seasoned whisky drinker!
These two met up before the ceremony and walked in together, it was so precious.
When you accidentally sign as a witness to your own marriage!
Deedee and Jake – Mr and Mrs Wills – thanks for trusting me to capture your celebrations. I loved every minute!
I’m a Christchurch-based wedding photographer, often traveling the South Island to celebrate epic weddings in Queenstown, Wanaka, Central Otago, and Nelson.
